Nickie Owen Bsc (HONS), BA (HONS), BASRaT

Nickie is a joint partner of Owensis Sports Therapy Clinic with her sister Kim and qualified in sports massage in 1999. She has practised in various physiotherapy and chiropractic clinics to acquire her experience.

She qualified with a BA (Hons) Sports Science degree and many Senior Fitness Instructor Awards which reflect an experienced background in gym instruction and exercise prescription with good knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as an experienced background in gym instruction and exercises.

Nickie graduated from her second degree in BSC (Hons) Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation at Bristol UWE in 2009 to further develop her knowledge and treatment of specific sports injuries.

She has also worked with Hartpury College Rugby team as a Pitchside Sports First Aider and has experience of working with a range of athletes and sports.

She also offers gait analysis and orthotics fitting for sports shoes or day shoes.

Nickie used to compete in athletics and netball to a high level and now continues her sporting interests in gym work, cycling and running. She has completed many half marathons and two full marathons.

Kim Owen BSc (Hons), SMA

Kim has been practising Sports Therapy and rehabilitation for 12 years and set up the clinic in 1996.

She is qualified in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation and has a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Science. She is also a qualified personal trainer, swim teacher, beach lifeguard, advanced first aider and lecturer in fitness instruction/sports massage.

Her experience enables her to treat clients for maintenance and injury issues. She can also help rehabilitate back from injury on land, and in water – a specialist interest of hers. Sessions can be for general or ‘sport specific’ fitness and conditioning, swim therapy and stroke work.

She has invaluable experience with working on the Gloucester Rugby 1st XV Medical Team in the past, and alongside many national and international sports people. Her knowledge is enhanced by her own personal achievements in the past in triathlon (GB Age Group Team), Running, Netball (County level), Endurance events; and present competition in Open Water Swimming and Surf Lifesaving.

She has a keen interest in enabling people with different lifestyles to become more healthy and active. She maintains her own fitness by regularly swimming, cycling, running and gym sessions.
